Professor Peter Read's book - The Stolen Generations - The removal of Aboriginal children in New South Wales 1883 to 1969 is the seminal work on the forced removal of Aboriginal Children in NSW. We are not invisible people, we are real, but the hurt and trauma inflicted on generations continues to impact on us, our children and our communities. We believe that Professor Reid sums up who we are and what we have become in his book. The introduction to his is book below. Prime Minister Paul Keating's speech at Redfern Park, 10 December 1992, at the Australian Launch of the International Year for the World's Indigenous People.

 Ladies and gentlemen,

I am very pleased to be here today at the launch of Australia's celebration of the 1993 International Year of the World's Indigenous People.

It will be a year of great significance for Australia.

It comes at a time when we have committed ourselves to succeeding in the test which so far we have always failed.
